Workout Fun

I’ve been keeping up with my five days a week workout regimen and I’m very proud of myself. I do something different everyday, whether it’s taking a Zumba class or Power Pump class at 24 Hr Fitness to meeting my trainer twice a week and running at memorial park. Last night, I met with my trainer for an intense workout. I did 15 minutes on the elliptical followed by the workout below for 40 minutes. I’m looking for a new trainer in Houston so if you know of any, please email me at

Shopping Day with Mom

I spent my Saturday afternoon with my mother and we decided to shop since that is what we love! We didn’t really have anything specific in mind just a little mom and daughter fun! We stopped at Kirklands, which I used to hate and now I totally love. I think it’s all part of growing up and having your own place to decorate. We ended up buying a bunch of amazing wall art for my house at a very reasonable price since mostly everything in the store was on clearance. I highly suggest you stop by if you’re in need of home decor. Below you will find pictures of my purchases! I’m totally in love with every single piece and they are already up on my walls.

Since we were already in the shopping center, we headed over to another one of my favorite places, Marshalls. As usual I found a ton of stuff that would fit perfectly in my closet. I decided on three pieces, two blouses and a dress; based on the fit and style. Pictures below! Both blouses were a hit with my friends and family this weekend! I paired the first blouse with printed leggings, gold accessories and nude pumps for dinner and drinks on Saturday night and the second blouse I paired with jeans, gold accessories and flower printed heels! I have not worn the dress but I’m pretty sure I’ll wear it this weekend.

Make your day a little brighter

While looking up a few topics to discuss on last Friday’s podcast, I came across an article that grabbed my attention; 6 Simple Rituals To Reach Your Potential Every Day! I’m always trying to find positive articles and ways to make life a little better and I figured trying these 6 little rules couldn’t hurt. Below I have included the first 3 rules and you can click here for the rest of the article! ENJOY!

1. Drink a glass of water when you wake up. Your body loses water while you sleep, so you’re naturally dehydrated in the morning. A glass of water when you wake helps start your day fresh. When do you drink your first glass of water each day?

2. Define your top 3. Every morning Mike asks himself, “What are the top three most important tasks that I will complete today?” He prioritizes his day accordingly and doesn’t sleep until the Top 3 are complete. What’s your “Top 3” today?

3. The 50/10 Rule. Solo-task and do more faster by working in 50/10 increments. Use a timer to work for 50 minutes on only one important task with 10 minute breaks in between. Mike spends his 10 minutes getting away from his desk, going outside, calling friends, meditating, or grabbing a glass of water. What’s your most important task for the next 50 minutes?

Get Smokey for the Night!

As I watched the rerun of the Golden Globes red carpet on E!, I noticed that the smokey eye effect was lighting up everyone’s eyelids! It’s actually one of my favorite makeup looks for myself when I go out at night and my absolute favorite of the night was the one and only Jennifer Lopez. Her hair, dress and makeup was perfection, and she was one of the many who spruced up her eyes. Check this link for more details on all the starlets who wore the smokey eye effect on Sunday night and below you can see my very own smokey eyes!

I used a sheer eye shadow to cover my entire lid then a light purple to cover the crease and lower lid with black eye shadow on my upper and lower lash line. I finished the look with black eyeliner on the upper and lower lash line as well.

Accessorize your life

A little accessorizing can spice up any outfit and I’m all about the accessories! From belts to jewelry to bags, wallets, eye wear, scarves and hand bags, accessories are what can complete your look. Target is one of my go to stores because I always find an item to add to my closet. There’s always a cute dress, shoes I can’t live without, accessories or all of the above. Check out the cute belts I picked up on clearance for $3 each!! I will definitely be putting them to good use.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee – One of the best classics of all time and a book that I remember reading in one of high school English classes about a black man charged with the rape and abuse of a young white girl. Click here for more info on the book and how get it on

A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess – Depicts the heart wrenching insight into the life of a disturbed adolescent. Click here for more info on the book and how get it on

Ready for the weekend!

It’s Friday and I feel fabulous, as you should too! Last night I decided to get my nails done before my workout so I headed on over to my favorite nail spot. Unfortunately, my usual manicurist Eric wasn’t available but I still managed to come out with some fabulously rockin’ nails! Check the link for a few nail tips from on how to make your manicure last longer. We all know chipped nails are never cute!

The other white meat!

I went grocery shopping last week and picked up pork tenderloins to make for dinner. I love to cook so I figured I’d look up a quick and easy recipe to put these tenderloins to good use! I found this Dijon Marsala Sauce recipe on and figured I’d give it a try! It was quick, easy, tasty and my pops loved it. He said the taste was delicious!  Check the link for all the details! Happy Cooking!!

Morning delight!

Most of us dread the early morning wake up! I, for one am not a morning person so when the alarm clocks goes off, I’m usually pressing snooze a few times before I actually wake up. After all, you never know who is going to knock on my door. Lol. I came across this article while checking out In Style online and I definitely wanted to share. Who doesn’t want to look better in the morning? SIGN ME UP! It gives you info on how to have a flatter tummy in the morning to getting rid of those pesky little dark circles under your eyes.
